Indiana Jones 4 Looking for Licensing Partners
Message posted June 21, 2006
The Licensing 2006 International Trade Show is happening this week in New York and The Hollywood Reporter has published an article on what entertainment properties are hot this year.
Lucas Licensing will have a presence at the show to promote their big plans for the "Star Wars" franchise as well as Indiana Jones 4, now tentatively scheduled for a summer 2008 release:
The article in The Hollywood Reporter states...
"Howard Roffman, president of Lucas Licensing, said the Lucasfilm division also will be looking for licensing partners for the summer 2007 release of a new "Indiana Jones" video game from LucasArts and the summer 2008 release of a new "Indiana Jones" movie."
It looks like things are moving forward with the fourth film. Things are moving slowly of course but at least they are moving. Let's hope they partner with some great companies and produce some interesting and quality merchandise and collectibles. With Lucasfilm looking for licensing partners now is a great time to submit any Wish List items to I Hate Snakes to show that interest in Indiana Jones collectibles is out there.
As a regular feature at IHateSnakes.com I post Wish List items I think would make great Indiana Jones collectibles and merchandise. I welcome any suggestions from site visitors. Feel free to send me a description of an Indiana Jones collectible, along with your name, you'd like to see and I will make it one of the Wish List news items. Please keep your collectible suggestions reasonable and realistic. For example, a life-size, whip-cracking robot of Indiana Jones is just too far out. If I receive duplicate suggestions I'll credit each person with the Wish List item. Please send Wish List suggestions to lon@ihatesnakes.com.

Finally. New Indiana Jones Merchandise is available at Star Wars Shop

The official Indiana Jones Web site has reported that Lucasfilm has finally released some new Indiana Jones merchandise through Star Wars Shop. Click the link in the Treasure Chest to the right to see the six different and new snazzy baseball caps that are now available for pre-order and will ship in July. Hopefully this is a sign that more collectibles are on the way from Lucasfilm. With the 25th anniversary of the release of Raiders of the Lost Ark hitting on Monday this is a great way to celebrate the silver anniversary of the film. Thank you Lucasfilm!

Celebrate Indiana Jones' 25th Anniversary
Message posted June 1, 2006
On June 12, 1981 the world was introduced to movie and pop culture icon, Indiana Jones. It's hard to believe it's been almost 25 years since the release of Raiders of the Lost Ark. On June 12, 2006, the silver anniversary will hit and unfortunately without much fanfare from Lucasfilm or Paramount Pictures. I decided it's up to the fans to commemorate this milestone by either watching the film, writing to Lucasfilm showing your support for new Indiana Jones products, whether it be a fourth film, collectibles or video games. My contribution is the launch of the I Hate Snakes store with some products recognizing the date of the release of the biggest film of 1981. It's not much but hopefully it will give fans something to show their love and passion for this great movie. The products are sure to get people asking "What's the significance of that?" And give us Indiana Jones fans a chance to let others know the place in cinematic history Raiders of the Lost Ark holds.

Wish List - Item #5

Indiana Jones trading card series - To start his new series a trading card company could release a trading card series based on Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade since that film did not have a trading card series and the other two did when they were originally released. It doesn't make sense that Last Crusade didn't have a trading card series. Most fantasy and/or sci-fi films always receive a trading card series. Batman and Ghostbusters II were the other two big fantasy releases of 1989 and they both had cards to coincide with the films. After a series of cards is released for Last Crusade there could also be a new series of cards for Raiders of the Lost Ark and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Many trading card companies have launched new series of collector's cards based on older properties. Modern cardstock and new innovative features for cards would definitely fit a new Indiana Jones trading card line.

Collector's Flashback #2
Message posted April 30, 2006
"Parker Brothers is the best. Better than the rest." That was the slogan on the cover of the 1982 Parker Bros. catalog and inside the catalog is a full color photo ad of the Raiders of the Lost Ark board game. This game has great box art. Thanks to Tom Bartsch, editor of Toy Shop, for this Collector's Flashback image. Collector's Flashback is a regular feature at IHateSnakes.com. If you have images of Indiana Jones toy or product advertisements from older catalogs, magazines or newspapers please send them to me along with your name and as much information about the publication as possible, such as name of publication, date, etc... I will credit you with the photo submission and information. Old ads of games, toys and collectibles are always interesting to revisit.

Lon Mills and the Toys Time Forgot

With this update I'm going to recap a trip I made to Canal Fulton, Ohio to visit the vintage toy shop, Toys Time Forgot.
This is the first in what I hope will be a continuing series of visits to toy shows, toy shops and conventions. There are several places and events within driving distance of me so I hope to get to some of them. Toys Time Forgot is tucked away in a small community and blends in with the "old town" style of shops in the middle of downtown Canal Fulton. The store itself is a toy lover's dream. It's a good mix of older toys and newer toys that are off the market. If you have a general interest in toys like I do I highly recommend paying the store a visit. I was in there for about 45 minutes and spoke to the owner a little bit. He did have some Indiana Jones items for sale but I had everything he had for sale except this paperback novel adaptation of Raiders of the Lost Ark. I have the edition with the gold cover but this cover was different so I bought it. I gave the owner my name and contact info in case he received any more Indiana Jones items in his store. Just be warned though. If you visit the store be prepared to want to buy everything. I saw several Six Million Dollar Man toys on display and for sale. After 45 minutes I had to leave before I started collecting that as well.

Holy Grails of Indiana Jones Collecting - Part 2
Message posted April 9, 2006
Holy Grail #2 "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" The Arcade Game was created by Atari. It followed the 1984 coattails of the hit film and was released in 1985. This is another great game in the Indiana Jones franchise that harnesses the appeal of the film by using actual dialogue and recreating famous scenes, such as the mine car sequence. In a town near where I grew up this game remained in an arcade in a mall in working order until the early 90s. At one point I noticed that it was actually for sale for $250. Being a poor college student at the time I couldn't afford it. What a great price! I recently saw the game for sale on an online arcade game Web site for more than $1,300. Oh how I wish I could travel back in time and buy it at $250.
